Closed-loop servohydraulic test bench control system

Closed-loop servohydraulic test bench control system is based on digital devices of ZETSENSOR series with CAN interface.

This system has fast response characteristics, high precision, and compact dimensions. The system enables comprehensive control of the servo drive in automated mode in compliance with the set test parameters such as pressure (force), displacement, along with the parallel control of other system parameters such as temperature, pressure, filter plugging, oil pressure, etc.

System function


Operating principles

Displacement and force sensors are mounted at the moving part of the test bench and produce signals that are proportional to the relative displacement of the piston and the force applied by the test bench to the specimen. These signals are further processed by measuring modules ZET 7111, that are also used for sending the measured values to the connected devices. Besides, the measured values are also displayed at the indicator of ZET 71718.

The operator can set the initial position of the compression testing machine in manual mode using a special controller connected to the encoder ZET 7160-E, which transmits the set position of the controller. The control module ZET 7190-R receives the signals from CAN bus and controls the servo valve in accordance with the signal received from the encoder. The liquid is pumped into the upper or bottom cylinder of the servo valve, thus moving the piston and controlling the compression-testing machine. In this way, it is possible to provide the initial impact on the tested specimen.

Then it is necessary to start the program for automated control. Module ZET 7190-R is used for servo valve control, thus providing compliance with the set test profile.

Module ZET 7190-R is used to provide PID-control of the servo valve based on the feedback signals from displacement and force sensors. The module calculates the parameters of the signal sent to the servo drive. The parameters are calculated based on the readings of the sensors and the set test profile.

It is also possible to increase the scale of the system by adding temperature, level, and liquid pressure sensors. The signals from these additional sensors will be used for the control of the test bench operation (e.g., it is possible to assign the temperature interlock). When several test benches are connected to a single hydraulic unit, there is established a multi-channel test-bench control system with the possibility of data exchange between the hydraulic unit and servo valves controllers for the purpose of proper shut-down of the test benches.
