Structural health monitoring (SHM) subsystem
Seismic impact level control
Russian Federation has a lot of earthquake endangered areas: Kurils, Sakhalin, Kamchatka, North Caucasus, Black Sea shore, Baikal, Altai, Tuva, Yakutia and Ural Mountains. Building architectural facilities in the above mentioned areas is to performed in compliance with corresponding national standards, health and safety regulations and rules. However, seismic impact control remains an integral part of emergency situations prevention (i.e. destruction of buildings leading to human losses).
The structural health monitoring subsystem “Seismic impact level control” is used for registering seismic impact levels affecting building structures that may lead to the transition of the building state from operational into the state of failure.
The subsystem is based on ZET 7150 and ZET 7156 digital sensors, which enable vibration acceleration and vibration velocity control of structural elements. It is recommended to place the sensors on foundations or bore pilings surface so that to increase the precision of seismic impact detection.

The subsystem “Seismic impact level control” compares seismic event values with the pre-set threshold values of warning and alarm level in automated mode. The signals “Alarm” and “Warning” are formed in the case if the threshold level is exceeded.
The threshold level values for “Warning” notification correspond to 3-4 scores of MSK-64 scale and to 6 scores for “Alarm” signal.
The subsytem enables additional control of atmospheric effects: temperature monitoring, atmospheric pressure and ground water level control. Changes of these parameters allow to foresee the seismic event probability.
It is recommended to install the “Seismic impact level control” subsystem within the scope of Structural health monitoring (SHM) system – this will enable seismic monitoring data transfer and processing.
