Operation Principle

of the ZET 7120 Digital Temperature Sensors

The ZET 7120 measuring unit in combination with the thermocouple constitute the digital temperature sensor.

The ZET 7120 unit converts signal from the sensor into temperature values. The resulting temperature values are transmitted via CAN interface. Thus, the use of digital sensors releases the user from the necessity of the measuring channels setting.

Thermocouple type is selected in accordance with the specifics of the task to be solved: measurement and accuracy required ranges, operation conditions.

Connection Diagrams

of the ZET 7120 Digital Temperature Sensors

Connection to a PC may be via USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, GSM; data can also be transmitted via a radio channel, see Interface Converters section. Interface converter supply package includes ZETLAB software which significantly enhances opportunities of using the digital temperature sensors.

The digital sensors are ideal for building distributed monitoring systems and for temperature control. Signal processing at the measurement point enables  high measurement accuracy and allows using inexpensive cables may for signal transmission.

The digital sensors may operate in standalone mode, for instance, in an automated temperature control system as well as in monitoring systems. To set the device operation scenario and for results display on a PC, ZETLAB SENSOR software is used which is supplied with the interface converters.

Joint operation of the digital sensors and controllers makes it possible to build control systems, automated complexes, and various control devices.

Caution

When ordering a thermocouple, make sure its cable length is sufficient since any cable extension not agreed upon with the manufacturer influences the thermocouple metering characteristics.

Control

of the ZET 7120 Digital Temperature Sensors

The ZET 7120 digital temperature sensor starts temperature measurement right after being powered on and does not require specific technical maintenance. All necessary settings are set during the primary and planned calibrations and stored in the measuring unit memory. The resulting temperature values are transmitted via CAN 2.0 interface.

When a primary transducer is replaced, it is necessary to update the unit settings. For this purpose, connect the unit to a PC, launch the “ZETLAB – Device Manager” software and set the sensor parameters on the “Thermocouple” tab.

Device type is selected from the dropdown list. In order to select a device, pick an element with left mouse key and choose a device to be checked from the list.

Use selector to set particular test. To set the test number click the number with left mouse key and set the required value by scroll. If the self-check is on, the selector will not be available until the user stops the project or the self-check is over. There is a key for start / stop of the process. The green key means that the diagnostics process is on, grey key stands for  for idle state.
