Preparing Zetlab Digital Sensors
Сhecking device visibility for ZETLAB software, troubleshooting, service operation with ZETSENSOR.
Preparing ZETSENSOR for Operation
Preliminary stage: interface converter preparation (drivers and ZETLAB software installation).
1. Power on digital sensors by connecting voltage converters to AC 220 V, 50 Hz mains.
- Check ZET Device Manager: make sure that all interface modules and all measurement modules connected to them or ZETSENSOR controllers are identified by the system (Figure 1 – one ZET 7070 interface converter and one ZET 7010 digital sensor are connected to PC).
Note: time from powering on digital sensors till appearance of the respective identifiers in ZET Device Manager should not exceed 2 minutes.
Absence of digital sensors indicators in ZET Device Manager may be attributed to mismatch of rates of the wizard’s digital interface and digital sensors or by coincidence of addresses of digital sensors installed on the same measuring line.
If the measuring line is based on RS-485 interface converter ( ZET 7070 or ZET 7174 type), the automated digital interface parameter setup program ZET7xxxServiceWork can be used for adjustment of rates and addresses of digital sensors.
Note: for CAN digital interface, automatic address allocation and adjustment of rates through ZET7xxxServiceWork program are unavailable and must be made manually.
ZET7xxxServiceWork program works with modules via a hidden protocol, therefore for its correct work all other programs from ZETLAB software set (such as Device Manager, ZETServer Time, etc.) must be exited (their windows must be closed).
To start the software from the main menu of ZETLAB software (ZLAB button), press the ZET7xxxServiceWork button (Figure 2).
Note: the software can also work independently without installed ZETLAB software — Download the program from FTP server.
ZET7xxxServiceWork program works with modules at one of two rates, 19,200 or 57,600 (it depends on the date of digital sensors firmware). Rate of operation via the hidden protocol can be selected in the Settings menu, Initialization point (Figure 3).
After choosing the rate of operation via the hidden protocol, the initialization process starts – Devices Initialization button (Figure 3). Once the initialization starts, the program will prompt to reconnect (turn off and turn on again) power of the measuring line (Figure 4) — it is necessary to do this to switch the digital sensors to “Hidden Protocol” operation mode.
The program will send a broadcast request through the line to all sensors and they will send a response. Based on this response, the program will make a new list of device addresses and allocate them automatically to the digital sensors, then the devices will be searched, and rates for a standard operation mode of digital sensors will be set. After that, the program will make list of all available digital sensors.
- In the case of problems with digital sensors connection, check quality of the cable line connection. Information on performing a check is provided in the section “Designing systems based on ZETSENSOR”.
- If necessary, reconfigure the digital sensors addresses manually with address allocation to digital sensors in the range from 2 to 60. Instructions are given in the section “Configuration” (see “Configuring Interface Part of ZETSENSOR Modules”).
Attention! Duplication of addresses is strictly forbidden for digital sensors located in the same measuring line.
Note: the address always correlates to a measurement channel, therefore it must be taken into consideration that some digital sensors such as ZET7054 or ZET7152 have more than one measuring channel. For such digital sensors, the address is specified only for the first one of its measurement channels, but remember that the following addresses (depending on the number of measuring channels of sensor) will also be used and must not be assigned to any other digital sensors installed in the same measuring line.
- If necessary, reconfigure digital interface data rates in accordance with the guide for configuring interface part of modules (see section “Configuration”).
- If necessary, adjust the sensitivity parameters or calibrate the digital sensors in accordance with corresponding methodologies described in the section “Configuration”.
7. Check operation of channels in ZETServer Time program which is located in the Service menu of ZETLAB panel (Figure 5).
Even change of time counters values for each digital sensor channel in ZETServer Time (Figure 6) indicates correct channel operation.
