Preparing Cable Lines for ZETSENSOR Installation
Prepare cable lines for measurement network installation using 36×25 mm tees (A 03-3) in digital sensors connection spots, or two groups (4 terminals in each group) of feed-through terminals mounted on a DIN rail.
Note: when using the feed-through terminals mounted on DIN-rails, the groups must be interconnected in such a way so that after connecting the cables to them the circuits with the same names would be connected from the beginning to the end of the cable line.
Note: when using shielded cables, as well as armored cables, add one or two terminals to each terminal group respectively.
Caution! Do not use conductors of different twisted pairs for the “data” and “power” lines.
For more information, refer to section “Designing Systems Based on ZETSENSOR”.
Before starting the installation of digital sensors in cable lines, it is recommended to check the lines for absence of short circuits, breaks, crossed twisted pairs. To do this, use a multimeter or a cable tester. It is also recommended to measure resistance of twisted pairs on every cable line in the “power” and “data” circuits. For twisted pairs resistance check on one side of the cable line, the conductor “U+” (orange wire) must be connected with the “GND” conductor (white-orange wire), as well as the “A+” conductor (blue wire) with the “А-” (white-blue wire) conductor. After that, use the multimeter to measure resistance between “U+” and “GND” conductors and “A+” and “А-” conductors on the other side of the cable line.
Caution! Twisted pair resistance must not exceed 50 Ohm.
Note: twisted pair resistance depends on the brand of the connection cable used and length of the cable line. High resistance value can be caused by low quality of contact points in the conductor connection areas.
Note: this item provides information about standard colors of twisted pair conductors for cables intended for digital interfaces. When using cables with other twisted pair color, it is required to assign color for each switched circuit.
