Power Meter

Power Meter is used for determining the power of the electrical current coming to the input channels of ADC modules and FFT spectrum analyzers, or that of the electromagnetic signal.

The indicator displays active power (P), apparent power (S), and reactive power (Q) measured in the selected channels.

It is possible to change the averaging of the displayed value (0.1 or 1.0 s) and to select necessary channels of the ADC module and value representation type.

Measured Parameters

  • ACTIVE POWER: WATT (W)

A mean value of instantaneous power for a T period is called power. In single-phase sinusoidal current circuits: P=U·I·cosφ, where U and I are voltage and current root-mean-squares, respectively, and φ is phase shift.

  • REACTIVE POWER: VOLT-AMPERE REACTIVE (VAR)

A value characterizing loads created in electrical devices by electromagnetic field energy oscillations in a sinusoidal alternating current circuit; it equals to the product of voltage root-mean-square values U and I by the phase-shift sine φ: Q=U·I·sinφ, where U and I are voltage and current root-mean-squares, respectively, and φ is the phase shift.

  • APPARENT POWER: VOLT-AMPERE (V•A)

A value equal to the product of the actual periodic electric current I by the voltage U at its terminals: S=U·I, where U and I are voltage and current root-mean-squares, respectively.
