Special characteristics

of Universal measurement module ZET 7080-I

  • Measurement precision

ZET 7080-I is placed close to the sensor (or is integrated into the casing), so the digital conversion of the signals is performed near the sensing element – this allows to considerably reduce the interference effect.

  • Ready for operation

settings of the digital sensor are stored in the device memory, which allows to start measurement perfomance immediately after power supply connection without the need to calibrate measurement channels

  • Efficient perfomance

in order to organize a distributed measuring network based on digital sensors ZET 7080-I there is no need to use expensive cables since the data transfer is performed in digital format

  • No data processing needed

digital sensor provides final data, i.e. measured value readings, so no additional data processing is required

Operating principles

of Universal measurement module ZET 7080-I

Universal measurement module ZET 7080-I together with a current output sensor form a digital sensor for various parameters measurement.

Primary transducer (current output sensor) converts physical value to electric signal. The measurement module performs the conversion of the signal and provides measured value readings in digital format. The results are transmitted via RS-485 Interface, Modbus protocol.

The sensors are fixed on the measured object, within leak-proof case or inside of electrical cabinet. The interface modules providing data transfer are placed into leak-proof case or inside of ZETLAB electrical cabinet.

ZETSENSOR modules are easy to install and to dismount, they have power indication and data transfer option which makes it easy to perform system on-site diagnostics.

Based on the digital sensors there can be established distributed measurement networks. Measurement networks are connected to ZETLAB and ZETVIEW systems via interface converter ZET 7070. In the case if integrated power supply module ZET 7070 is used, the amount of the sensors that can be connected to ZET 7070 module is maximum 3 (60 in the case if external power supply unit is used).   ZETLAB  software enables connection of up to 1024 sensors to a single PC. Measurement networks can be connected to any kind of the system with Modbus protocol, RS-485 interface.

Configuring

Universal measurement module ZET 7080-I

Configuring of digital sensors is performed by means of the software “Device manager”, placed in “Service” menu of ZETLAB main panel.

"Measurement" tab

Parameter Possibility of changes Acceptable values Description
Sensor’s current measured value (in measuring value) Within the measurement range The parameter depicts measured channel value fixed by the time of the tab activation
Data rate, Hz The parameter is determined by  the value set for “Data rate” parameter (“Settings” tab)
Measuring value The parameter corresponds to the current measurement value. It is determined by the value set for the parameter “Measuring value” (“Settings” tab)
Name of the sensor Yes Any characters sequence (maximum 32) Randomly assigned
Mininal measuring value The box depicts minimal possible value that can be measured by the digital sensor
Maximum measuring value The box depicts maximum possible value that can be measured by the digital sensor
Reference value for calculations (dB) The parameter depicts reference value necessary for conversion of the measured value into dB  (the parameter is not valid for sensors of ZET 7×80-I series)
Sensitivity (in measuring value) The parameter depicts sensitivity value
Sensitivity threshold (in measuring value) The parameter specifies measuring sensitivity

"Settings" Tab

Parameter Possibility of changes Acceptable values Description
Output signal Yes 0 – 20 mA
4 – 20 mA
0 – 5 mA
The parameter is set in accrodance with the connected sensors specifications
Sensor serial number Yes The parameter is set only in the case if it is necessary to identify sensor serial number
Measuring value Yes The parameter specifies measuring value for the purpose of measurement physical value identification. The value set is not used for any conversions
Minimal measuring value Yes Lower measuring limit of the external sensor. The value is set in accordance with the connected sensor specifications
Maximum measuring value Yes Upper measuring limit of the external sensor. The value is set in accordance with the connected sensor specifications

Measuring values settings
Set to zero Yes Off
On
Sets to zero the RPM counter (after the settings are saved the parameter goes back to «off»)

In order to configure the encoder mode it is necessary to enable the digital sensor ZET 7х80-I to measure source data (“raw data”). To do this switch the parameter “Output signal” in the tab “Settings” for the value «0−20 mA». Then set the values for parameters “Minimal measuring value” and “Maximum measuring value” in accordance with the chosen mode («0» and «20»).

It is also necessary to set the response level  of the optical mark. Align optical sensor with the mark and set the actual value from the program “DC Voltmeter” in the box “Upper threshold limit” of the “Encoder” tab. Remove the mark and set the actual value from the program “DC Voltmeter” in the box “Lower threshold limit” of the “Encoder” tab. One should understand, that these values have to be checked, since if the value fails to exceed the set threshold, the mark will not be detected. It means that it is better to set the values with minor corrections to guarantee the mark detection. At the same time the value should be above noise and interference level in order to avoid false responses of the sensor.

"Shift" tab

Parameter Possibility of changes Acceptable values Description
Shift state Yes Off
On
Activation of current measured value recalculation to the value specified in “Shift” parameter
Shift in measuring value Yes The parameter specifies the value which should be set as a current value of the digital sensor and based on which further value changes shall be controlled.
