Function

of digital inclinometer ZET 7154

Digital inclinometer ZET 7154 is used in static systems for platforms positioning control (2-axial mode) with a tolerance below 0,1 %. Low power voltage and CAN protocol enable integration of ZET 7154 digital inclinometer into almost any industrial system. “Set to zero” option allows to calibrate the sensor to zero in every axis, thus preventing platform critical tilt in the set coordinate.

Digital inclinometer ZET 7154 – major application spheres:

  • Bearing structures and buildings deflexion and tilt control within automated structural health monitoring systems;
  • positioning maintenance, alignment of platforms;
  • robotics industry;
  • position and displacement parameters measurements, emergency notification in the case of controlled object critical displacement;
  • security systems;
  • navigation.

Operating principles

of digital inclinometer ZET 7154

Digital inclinometer ZET 7154 is a measurement module with integrated primary transducer. ZET 7154 digital inclinometer has high precision both in single- and two-axial operation mode.

Digital inclinometer output data (measuring results):

  • calibrated acceleration values;
  • tilt angles precise values;
  • inner temperature;
  • voltage value;
  • fault and alarm signals.
Digital inclinometer operation principle

The selected tilt measurement range of measuring axes is provided only in the case if zero values for both measuring axes of the inclinometer correspond to its horizontal position.

It is necessary to provide primary horizontal position of the inclinometer using measuring axes directions shown on the inclinometer package, as well as to provide correct inclinometer orientation by azimuth.

Mounting of the inclinometer (the inclinometer base has has 4 mounting holes with 4,5 mm diameter) can be performed on the mounting surface using bolts or dowels. In order to provide possibility of inclinometer adjustment by azimuth and horizon, it is necessary to use adjustment plate during its mounting.

Adjustment plate also has 4 mounting holes with 4,5 mm diameter for mounting on the controlled object surface.

ZET 7154 digital inclinometers can also be mounted on walls by means of angle bar 100×63×6 mm.

The sensors mounted on the controlled object surface are connected to data acquisition and processing nodes (i.e. to the electrical cabinet with interface and addtional modules).

ZETLAB electrical cabinet has compact dimensions if compared to available analogs. ZETSENSOR modules advantages are as follows: they are easy to install and to dismount, they have power indication and data transfer option, which considerably simplifies on-site system diagnostics.

Measuring network diagram

based on digital inclinometer ZET 7154

In order to establish a measuring network using digital sensor, you will need interface converters to connect digital sensors to PC with ZETSENSOR Software. The Software will automatically detect all inclinometers connected to the network, perform their diagnostics, and notify the user of the sensors faults, if any. In addition to standard functions the Software displays all the measurements performed by the system, thus allowing to timely prevent critical deviation from the set parameters and to use the data received for further calculations.

A single interface module supports connection of up to 60 digital inclinometers.

The interface connectors are used not only for connnection to PC, but also for establishing measuring networks located far from operator’s WKS – it is possible by means of data transfer via radio channel or GSM.

Control

of digital inclinometer ZET 7154

Digital inclinometer: parameter settings

It is possible to set the following parameters for ZET 7154 digital inclinometers:

  • Conversion frequency — sensor data register frequency: 1 Hz.
  • Averaging filter ratio — number of averaged counts: 256.
  • Smoothing ratio — 0.001…1. Ratio α for EMA – filter, which is calculated by the formula: DMAt = α*EMAt + (1-α)*DMAt-1. The less the ratio α is, the higher is the smoothing ratio and the slower is the reaction speed. For slow changes it is recommended to set the value 0.005, for fast – 0.1
  • Offset X — current «zero» drift in the range -90°…90° (calibrational compensation which is applied to the source data).
  • Offset Y — current «zero» drift in the range -90°…90° (calibrational compensation which is applied to the source data).

Parameter settings

Offset settings

The following parameters are available for offset settings:

  • Offset— on/off. When the offset is activated, the current values by X and Y axes are set to zero. The offset value is shown in the tab “Settings”, section “Offset, axis”. When the offset is switched off, the data values are shown without changes.
  • Offset, units – allows to set module readings value upon offset option activation (the set value will not change).

Metrological self-monitoring

of digital inclinometer ZET 7154

Digital inclinometer ZET 7154 has metrological diagnostic self-monitoring function — in particular, auto-check of transducer serviceability while being in operation. Based on positive results of metrological self-monitoring, it is possible to increase inter-verification interval without implementing standard verification procedure.

There has been developed a special software for metrological self-monitoring of ZETSENSOR digital transducers in automatic mode.

Main window of “Metrological self-monitoring ZET 7XXX” software is shown in the figure. The “Metrological self-monitoring” tab allows user to select the type of device, test, control measurements routine, and to receive the self-check results.
